The Lion Hotel Berriew

The Lion Hotel Berriew

Nestled in the beautiful Mid-Wales village of Berriew, Montgomeryshire is the Lion Hotel & Restaurant. Built 400 years ago in the 17th century, the Lion Hotel & Restaurant was originally a coaching inn and pub for builders working on the local church, St Beuno’s. Sitting alongside the idyllic setting of the church and the River Rhiew, the old black & white, timbered front building reflects the agricultural past of the village tucked between Newtown and Welshpool.

The new owners, architect and interior designer Michael Davis and his partner world-renowned artist Andrew Logan, refurbished the exterior to its original form while creating a plush, metropolitan interior. Locals and visitors can meet and enjoy the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere that our restaurant and lounge bar have to offer. Work of Andrew Logan, including mirrored portraits, watercolours, and mirrored walls, adorn the inside of the Lion.

Berriew, winner of the ‘Best Kept Village’ award, welcomes travellers from all parts of the globe, at the Lion Hotel & Restaurant. Visitors to the area can benefit from our fully operational hotel lounge bar, and restaurant.

Lion Hotel, Berriew

So today is a very sad day for The Lion Hotel & Restaurant as my assistant manager works her last shift. Becca has been a loyal, committed but most importantly fun loving member of staff to work with. We are all going to miss her so much, staff and customers alike.
However we knew the career choice she had dreamed of and we all wish her the best of luck for the future.....
On a personal note, all I can say is a big thank you Becca just for being you and I am going to miss you so much.....
And over to you.... these are Beccas words as she always likes the last word 😊.... Lee Kendall - General Manager

Hi all Becca here (assistant manager and general dogs body to Lee)
Today is my last shift at The Lion after an amazing 15 months. I'll try to keep this short and sweet as Lee says I ramble on. 🤪
This is the only way I can say thank you to as many of you as possible, both customers old and new and my amazing work family.
I've laughed, I've cried, and I've laughed till I've cried. All your comments and well wishes have meant so much to me and makes saying goodbye to The Lion even harder.
Im not just saying goodbye to my team but also my extended lion family which includes the Lions Regulars, thanks for the chats, stories, therapy and laughs, you all know who you are.
Lee and the team, you're the best! Keep doing what you're doing. Without going into too much, you all know how grateful I am and how much I'll miss you, even if we do make the place seem like Faulty Towers some days.
On that note, thanks for all your love and support.
Becca xxx
